An excellent opportunity for a dynamic supply chain professional to join a busy organisation as a Material Planner. The Material Planner will be responsible for managing the effective planning of all materials required for production.

Key Responsibilities of the Material Planner;

Work with the suppliers to ensure material supply meets production requirements with minimum stock levels, whilst managing transport costs within financial budgets.

Analyse MRP schedule requirements against current planned schedules and collaborate with suppliers where schedule changes are required.

Communicate potential material shortage and status with the operations team as and when required.

Track and monitor supplier performance levels and hold regular performance reviews with suppliers to drive improvement.

Escalate poor supplier performance to Purchasing team.

Review material planning parameters to ensure optimum inventory holding.

Take ownership of material planning issues that arise, including over or under delivery and take any follow up actions.

Manage inventory risk and ensure that contingency plans are in place.

Escalate shortages within the internal organisation to ensure parts are expedited.

Set up, manage and maintain the controlling parameters (Lead-times/ safety stock) and ensure the data is valid.

Personal Specification of the Material Planner;

Degree qualified or equivalent.

Materials Planning experience.

Experience within a Manufacturing environment is essential.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing processes.

Good working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems.

Strong communication skills.

Ability to operate well in a fast-paced environment.

Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
