Marketing Manager (Maternity Cover) Required immediately

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a talented, creative and skilled Marketing Manager to join our busy independent school.

We are looking for a part-time (20 hours per week, term time only).

Marketing Manager to be responsible for developing and implementing the

marketing strategy of the school. The successful candidate will be degree educated

with relevant marketing qualifications and/or marketing experience, ideally in the

independent education sector, although not essential. They should have excellent

communication, teamwork and relevant IT skills, and social media knowledge.

Job Description

Job Title Marketing Manager (Maternity Cover)

Responsible to Headteacher

Purpose of the Job

The Marketing Manager will work closely with the Headteacher to devise and then implement the marketing and communications strategy of the school. They will make a major contribution to the overall marketing strategy for the school and will be central to all marketing activities carried out. Their purpose is to create awareness of the school in the locality and further afield, to attract new pupils and to help us to improve our offer to existing students so that our communications are always first class.

Specific Areas of Responsibility

Contribute to the development of the marketing strategy

Actively seek to promote the work of the school and its pupils at all times

Continue to strengthen the schools brand and ensure it is upheld at all times including internal documents

Have an overview of all marketing activities at the school and seek new opportunities

Work to an annual budget and keep records of expenditure

Produce termly reports and analytics on marketing activities

Liaise with feeder schools, toddler groups, nurseries, local estate agents and developers, etc. to maximize pupil recruitment

Develop and strengthen our social media and online strategies

Manage and maintain the school website

Explore sponsorship opportunities

Market research as and when required

Order merchandise and all marketing collateral

Advertising, Press releases and Social Media

Writing press releases for the local press and other journals

Organising photography when needed for press releases

Be familiar with the routines of the school and events on the calendar to maximise opportunities for press releases

Regular updates on the Schools social media accounts

Updating the information screen in reception area

Designing and placing adverts for local press for Open Mornings and general advertising

Attend Open Mornings and help with organisation of such events

Deliver leaflets when required

Other responsibilities

Providing general PR and Marketing advice to the Headteacher and Senior Management Team

Continue to build an alumnae database, manage the Alumnae Facebook Group and help coordinate annual alumni events, and prepare for the schools centenary celebrations in 2018

Liaise with the Highfield Parents Association over fund-raising events

Create an archive of all media coverage and advertising

Carry out community outreach programmes to support our charitable purpose e.g. working with local higher education establishments on joint projects

Promote and manage the twice-monthly stay & play sessions in our nursery

Taking photos around school, editing them and producing videos for use online

Managing events as required e.g. Hockey Festival and STEM days with local infant schools, attendance at local events e.g. Cookham Regatta

Design and produce annual magazine

To carry out duties as the Headteacher may from time to time determine to fall within the remit of the post, and attend training courses as required and paid for by the school.

It is expected that all school employees will understand that our work is confidential and that personal details about children and families should not be discussed outside the school.

Additional Duties

It is the nature of a school that tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances varied. All staff are therefore expected to work in a flexible way when occasion arises, when tasks that are not specifically covered in their job descriptions have to be undertaken.

Maintain high personal standards of appearance, behaviour and punctuality

Request permission from the Headteacher for any absence from school and to give notice to those concerned in good time
