Senior IDVA

£27,249 rising to £28,035 pro-rata per annum after 1 year 

Fantastic opportunity for a Senior IDVA to join our brand-new service in Slough.

We are Hestia, a vibrant charity supporting adults and children in crisis. Our brand-new Slough Domestic Abuse Services delivers an Independent Domestic Violence Advocacy service across Slough and Safety Planning across East Berkshire. You will be responsible for the proactive running and day to day supervision of the service ensuring that women and children receive the relevant support and that all health and safety matters are fully addressed.

West London and Slough IDVA services are based in community settings, police stations and social services.The key aims of our IDVA based services is to:

  • Improve each clients and their childrens safety and wellbeing
  • Provide relevant support in accordance with the SafeLives risk assessment and ISSP (Individual Safety & Support Planning),High and Medium risk.
  • Encourage and promote a Multi-agency approach of working to ensure the needs of the clients are met to a high quality which will include partnership working within all aspects of service provision included when relevant, support planning. With particular focus on MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference).
  • Provide a responsive service adaptable to service requirements.

Person specification:

  • Knowledge of the support needs and support planning of women and children experiencing domestic violence
  • Safelives IDVA qualified or willingness to complete
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System
  • Ability to manage staff as well as provide case working support to clients.
  • Experience of working within a multi-agency setting.
  • Awareness of risks associated with domestic violence in a working environment.
  • Knowledge of legal, statutory, regulatory and good practice requirements applicable to the provision of supported housing.
  • Working knowledge of the relevant housing law and welfare benefits that apply to women and children using the service.
  • Knowledge of legal remedies available to women experiencing domestic violence.
  • Provide an out of hours on call service as part of Hestias On-call rota
  • Willingness to mentor pool workers, students and trainees as required across the organisation.
  • Ability to manage the service (including supervising staff) in the absence of the Team Manager
  • Previous experience of using computer based systems to accurately record work and client details
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and ability to manage complex tasks in clearly defined time frames (including accurate records, reports, case notes and interpersonal communication)
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
