Are you passionate about your community? Do you want to make its voice heard? Are you looking for an exciting and supportive route into a journalism career? Then the Community News Project is for you.

A new partnership between Facebook, local news publishers and the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) has enabled the Maidenhead Advertiser and Slough and Windsor Express to offer a new community reporter role.

The reporter will work in our Maidenhead office on a two-year fixed term contract and will aim to increase coverage and representation for Burnham in South Bucks and Twyford in Berkshire.

You will get the chance to get stuck in to these communities, engaging with local contacts and generating stories for our weekly newspapers and websites, as well as coming up with audio, video and interactive ideas.

Along with a competitive salary, The Community News Project will offer industry-leading digital journalism training to the successful candidate, who will be supported as they work towards a newly-created NCTJ qualification.

Applicants need to have at least five GCSES, with English and maths at C or above (or equivalent).

Previous journalism experience and/or qualifications are not essential.

The role is available as either an apprenticeship for those making their first steps into journalism or a trainee role for applicants with previous journalism experience or an NCTJ pre-entry qualification.
